Features Released for Summer 2012

What’s New

  • Blackboard Integration
  • Blackboard users will now be able to integrate their Blackboard course with any MyLab New Design course. This integration will allow for instructor and student single sign-on, inclusion of direct links to the MyLab course from within Blackboard content pages, and easy grade transfer. For more information, click here.

  • Study Plan Improvements

  • Enhanced Study Plan Scoring
  • Enhanced Study Plan scoring will grade students on the number of sections they have mastered, rather than by the number of exercises they have worked correctly. This will allow instructors to easily tie a grade to the Study Plan and quickly assess in which content areas students need more practice.

Features Released for Winter 2011

What’s New

  • Item Analysis for Combined Courses
  • Item Analysis Exports are now available for course groups from both the Quick Exports and Advanced Exports pages. If a coordinator-instructor exports Item Analysis for a course group, he/she can get a summary of student performance across all course sections in the course group as well as student scoring details for each student. Question metrics (difficulty, median time, correct on first try) are also included in Advanced Exports.

  • Stop and Resume Tests/Quizzes
  • Instructors can choose to allow students to stop taking a test or quiz and return at a later time to complete it. If they select this setting, the test/quiz is restricted so that students can see only one question at a time and cannot change previously answered questions or look ahead. Students must answer a question completely before they can move on. Students returning to a timed test will have only the remaining time to complete the test; the clock does not “start over.”

Upcoming Features for Summer 2011

MyFinanceLab®, the leading Finance technology, is about to get even better! This summer, MyFinanceLab will be updated with the new features that you have been asking for! Read below to learn about the new features and the release details. This new release is filled with easy to use features that give students more "I Get It" moments, while providing you more options and flexibility for your course!

Please do not schedule any tests or other assignments during the release. MyFinanceLab courses will be temporarily unavailable during the upgrade.

Notify Lab Administrators

Starting with this release, MyFinanceLab will require the use of the Adobe Flash Player version 10.1 or later. (Earlier versions of Flash will no longer be supported.) If you are teaching with MyFinanceLab for the first time, please refer your computer lab administrators to the installation instructions on the Pearson Player Update page.

Also, for the MyFinanceLab instructors who want to take advantage of the Pearson LockDown Browser (powered by Respondus) in their course, please be sure your computer lab administrator downloads and installs the software for this enhanced security feature on the Pearson Player Update page.

New Features

Security Enhancements for Testing
Instructors will be able to use the Pearson LockDown Browser, powered by Respondus, so that students taking tests in MyFinanceLab will not be able to access their desktop or any external website.

Pearson eText Integration
Courses that have published in 2011 will have full eText integration with increased ease of use and enhanced features, such as the ability for instructors to publish and share their annotations and highlights with students in their courses.

Assign Testbank Questions from Other Books
Instructors will be able to assign testbank questions from other books. This will increase the number of testbank questions available for homework and exams and give instructors more variety when choosing questions to assign.

Preview Image of Available Questions
While creating assignments, instructors will see a "thumbnail" image of each question as they move their cursor over the question ID or name. The question objective is shown at the top of each thumbnail image. This will allow instructors to more easily see questions while assigning homework.

Features Released for Winter 2010 / 11

On December 27, 2010, MyFinanceLab was updated with all new features. Read below to learn about our new features. As always, Pearson's MyFinanceLab is the place to go for easy-to-use features that give students and instructors more course options, flexibility, and success!

New Features

AACSB Standards and Finance Learning Outcome Statements

Instructors are now able to structure their MyFinanceLab course assignments around, and run reporting in two ways: based on AACSB standards and course specific learning outcome statements for principles of finance. This enhanced reporting exists for introductory courses only, for new edition textbooks published in January 2011 or later.

Pearson eText Full Integration

Courses published since early 2011 now use the Pearson eText for the first time. This new platform allows students and instructors to annotate and highlight, and offers other advanced eText features as well. A full integration by Spring 2011 will allow instructors to publish and share their annotations and highlights with students in each of their courses. Later in 2011, students will be able to download their eText to certain mobile devices like the iPhone. Stay tuned for future eText updates and information.
